Jayalalithaa to go ahead with Madurai rally

UDHAGAMANDALAM: AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa today asserted that she was not afraid of threats to her life, saying she had been getting threats regularly.

"I am not afraid of any threat to my life... I have been getting such threats regularly," she said here when reporters asked about the letter threatening a bomb attack on the AIADMK supremo during her proposed rally in Madurai later next month.

She said the meeting would be held as planned in Madurai, considered the stronghold of Union Minister and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's son M K Alagiri.

The letter was received by 'JAYA TV' last week.

On the issue of alliance for assembly elections due next May, Jayalalithaa said it would be decided at the time of polls.

"Alliance desired by the people will be formed," said the AIADMK chief who has of late been indicating her inclination for a broad alliance, including even the Congress, against DMK.

Jayalalithaa, now camping at her Kodanadu estate retreat near here, was on her way to Gudalur to attend the marriage of former state minister A Miller's son.
