Village attains 100 percent literacy

ANGUL: Mahitala under Chhendipada block was declared 'total literate village' by Angul Zilla Swakhyarata Samiti today.

 Of the total population of 364 people, 179 are women in this village.

The initiative was taken by Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) under its corporate social responsibility.

Informing this at the International Literacy Day, District Collector and Chairman of the Samiti D V Swamy lauded  JSPL for its CSR activities. He urged the company to take the initiative to achieve 100 per cent literacy in Angul Municipality and other 18 affected villages.

 On the occasion, JSPL senior vice-president Premjit Singh Dhillon promised full support to the district administration. Senior government and company officials were present.
