KENDRAPARA: A criminal case has been lodged against a man who died a decade ago in Kendrapara district of Orissa, police said today. A case under Section 107 (breach of peace) of Criminal Procedure Code has been registered against Kashinath Basantia of Balabhadraprasad village near here."It is apparently a lapse on the part of the police. The mistake is being investigated," Kendrapara Superintendent of police Narasingha Bhol told PTI. Kashinath's son Amulya Basantia has moved to Orissa State Human Rights Commission and sought the panel's intervention on this."The police have implicated seven members of my family in cooked up charges. They have also not spared my father who died on November 11, 2000," Amulya said."The sub-divisional police officer has been asked to investigate the circumstances that led the police to register a case against a man who is dead. In the event of inquiry, if a fault with the investigation is found then the guilty officer will face disciplinary action," Bhol said.Acting on the complaint lodged by two fellow villagers, a case in apprehension of breach of peace had been registered, police said.
