BHUBANESWAR: The BJP today warned the Government not to think of granting alternate mining lease to Vedanta Aluminium whose credential is doubtful. Reacting to Vedanta’s move to have Gandhamardan as the alternate site for mining bauxite ore, BJP spokesperson Jeeban Sahu said the people of Orissa are now aware about the BJD’s concern for Vedanta and Posco. The Government is a party to the loot of the mineral wealth of State and the refusal of the Centre to grant permission to Vedanta to mine bauxite from Niyamgiri has exposed the real motive of the Chief Minister. In the name of rapid industrialisation, Naveen is trying to hand over the mineral wealth of the state to a few industrial houses who have absolutely no interest in the development of the state. The people will not forgive him for his anti-people activities, Sahu cautioned. The BJP will oppose any move of the Government to grant mining lease to Posco and Vedanta, he added.
