Pakistan flag hoisted in Karnataka town

Last Updated : 01 Jan 2012

BIJAPUR (Karnataka): Tension prevailed in Sindgi town near here after it came to the notice of locals that a Pakistani flag had been hoisted on the premises of the Tahsildar's office today, police said.

Soon after receiving the message, police went to the town, about 60 km from here, and seized it from the flag-pole, SP Rajappa said.

An irate mob pelted stones at two buses and showed signs of intensifying the protest. However, police brought the situation under control, he said, adding the situation was now peaceful.

The flag was hoisted at midnight while people were celebrating new year in the town, Rajappa said and added that locals allegedly tried to manhandle him as well.

Police have taken some persons into custody for inquiry and but no arrest had been made, he said.

I am surprised! Government should not take it lightly. People involved in such anti-national activities should be punished with high intensity.

The authorities must find out the mischiefs who have indulged in this anti-national act. This insidence should not be given publicity. It should carry out investigation on various angles and bring the culprits to court, and give them an exemplary punishment so that others are not able to do such mischief in future. whether the fundamentalists or the rightist forces who plant events to create communal chaos. Most important is to find if it was a prank or if there is any purpose.

we are an all inclusive, diverse and secular nation that must respect the sentiments of all minorities, especially muslims..didnt our prime minister say that they have first right to resources of india....and above all muslims belong to the religion of peace who always help the country where they migrate and live...it is the majority that troubles them..why are we over reacting????? i am sure muslims will be fine if hindus try to put an orange flags on mosques....or break down those mosques that were created by razing down temples...
