Woman assaults auto driver, abuses cops

BANGALORE: A 28-year-old beautician gave a tough time to the Highgrounds police on Thursday night.

The woman, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, abused an auto driver and then two policemen who tried to pacify her.

A woman police official had to be summoned to take the woman to Bowring Hospital for alcohol test and then drop her to her residence.

On Friday morning, police registered a case and sent a notice to the accused who was identified as Sultana Syed, a resident of Munireddypalya in JC Nagar.

According to Highgrounds police, the accused boarded an auto at around 11.30 pm near Brigade Road junction.

She asked the driver to take her to JC Nagar.

While travelling, she asked the auto driver his name and suddenly started abusing him for no reason, police said after interrogations.

According to the statement made by Ayub, the auto driver, she started beating him when he did not respond.

Ayub, who had reached Vasanthnagar by then, saw two policemen on a Cheeta bike and stopped the vehicle.

Ayub gave the policemen details about the passenger in his auto and requested them to pacify her.

But Sultana reportedly started screaming at the police too.

Seeing things going out of control, a woman constable was summoned from the nearest police station who took Sultana to Bowring Hospital for medical test.

The Highgrounds police have registered a case of quarrel and sent a notice to the accused.

The investigation is still on.
