National Seed Corp revnues zoom 62% in 2009-10

NEW DELHI: Government-owned National Seed Corporation today said its revenue jumped by 62 per cent to Rs 472 crore in 2009-10 fiscal over the previous fiscal.

"The company's seed production had gone up by 48 per cent to 1.5 million quintals in the last fiscal," National Seed Corporation Chairman and Managing Director S K Roongta announced while addressing 47th Annual General Meeting here.

The company had reported a revenue of Rs 292.43 crore in an year ago period.

Roongta also announced that the company would be giving a dividend of 11 per cent on its paid-up share capital.

"This is the highest dividend payout since the inception of the Corporation," he said.

Incorporated in 1963, National Seed Corporation is under the control of the Ministry of Agriculture and is responsible for production, processing and marketing of agricultural seeds.
