Kaspersky to invest $2 million in India ops

HYDERABAD: Moscow-based Kaspersky Lab, on Monday, said it will invest $2 million in its Indian operations this year. The company also said it would expand its partnership network and sales operations office in Hyderabad.“We will explore new opportunities within government sector including education and e-governance projects. We are also exploing possiblities of setting up an R&D centre and a full-fledged call centre to cater to our customers across South Asia,” said Suk Ling Gun, MD, South Asia, Kaspersky Lab, which claims to be the fourth largest anti-virus solutions provider.He added that the company will also double its partners from the current 800 by end of 2010. Kaspersky sold over two million licences across the country and is targeting to growth 130 per cent by 2010. It also tied up with Hyderabad-based Zoom Technologies to market its products.According to market research firm IDC, the Indian anti-virus market is poised to touch $200 million. Kaspersky currently holds 15 per cent market share within the enterprise segment. The company is also in talks with state universities and IITs to develop new ideas and improve the level of security in the IT sector.Kaspersky is hosting a student conference on cybercrime in Kuala Lumpur between February 25 and 28, 2011. The conference brings together students, experts, scientists and researchers in a collaborative environment to present and discuss issues relating to IT security for the next generation.
