Ward-wise agendas to be LSP’s USP

HYDERABAD: Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan wants the contestants in the Greater Hyderabad Muni c ipal Cor porat ion (GHMC) elections to approach voters with a ward manifesto.The Lok Satta Party has conceived ward manifestos which identify problems in each ward, estimate the likely expenditure and the time required for addressing them. The Lok Satta Party, according to Jayaprakash Narayan, is committed to giving powers to people directly and each elected ward commitee will get Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore which works out to an investment of Rs 1,000 per person in the ward every year to solve their problems.Addressing party candidates who were given B forms to contest the elections, Narayan said that one should have a manifesto to reach the voters. If the contestants had manifestos with them, it would become easy for him to campaign for them in the elections.He said people were eager for a change as demonstrated by voters of the Kukatpally Assembly cons t i t u e n cy wh i ch he repesents in the Assembly.The Lok Satta Party’s forte was its agenda for each ward in the city, he said. He wanted his candidates to make it clear to voters that every aspect touching their lives ranging from health and sanitation to drinking water and drainage depended on the people who they elected in local body elections.
