CM launches veiled attack on Reddys

BANGALORE: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said on Tuesday that the forests and mineral resources of the state were being looted by vested interests.Though he knew this, he was unable to stop the loot, the CM said.He was speaking on the occasion of the forest staff martyr’s day at Aranya Bhavan.Yeddyurappa said, “We should serve the nation. But there are some who have made it a point to utilise the nation for their vested ends.” Yeddyurappa said that the people of Karnataka had reposed faith in the BJP and brought it to power. But due to certain politicians, the faith had been shaken. He said that there would be problems in governance and it was necessary to sort them out. “But in the current situation, we are unable to,” the CM said.He said that in the aftermath of the recent floods, the people’s representatives should have been tending to the people. Instead, they had no time for the people.Hence, people were losing faith in them, he said.Yeddyurappa said that Karnataka was a land of sandalwood. But unfortunately, the forests of Karnataka were being encroached and sandalwood trees were vanishing.“In the past, I may have hurt feelings of certain officers due to my impatience.It is time to forget all that and resolve to work for the betterment of the state,” the CM said.
