Geriatric nursing conference on September 8 & 9

KOCHI: A two-day national conference on geriatric nursing will be held at the Amrita College of Nursing on September 8 and 9.

The conference will be inaugurated by Kerala University of Health and Allied Sciences Vice Chancellor Dr K Mohandas on September 8 at 9 AM. at the Annexe auditorium (B Block, 3rd floor) of AIMS.

With a gerontology boom expected in the recent future, the growing involvement of nurses with older adults is important. It is also a challenge for nurses to gain increased expertise in gerontological care.

The conference is a first of its kind in the state and targets not only the nursing fraternity but senior citizens, their caretakers and old age home authorities as well. Experts from the field of geriatric medicine and nursing within and outside the state will lead the classes on geriatric health problem and their management.

Successful ageing is the highlight of the conference. Around 600 delegates from all over the country are expected to attend the conference. Dr Prem Nair, Medical Director, Prof K T Moli, principal, Amrita College of Nursing, Dr V Kanthaswamy, Additional Controller of Examinations, AIMS, Dr George Paul, HOD, Department of Geriatrics, and Sri Sai Bala, Chief Nursing Officer, will speak on the occasion.
