KOCHI: Moving another step closer to the goal of bringing various departments of the Kochi Corporation under the cover of e-governance, the civic body will soon invite tenders for the same. Once the e-governance becomes a reality, the payment of property tax, registration of birth and death, utility services, filing of grievances and suggestions and submission and approval of building plans would go online.“The Functional Requirement Specification (FRS) document focusing on the requirements of various departments that have to be computerised has already been approved by the head of the respective departments. The tender will be invited on the basis of the FRS,” said Mayor Mercy Williams. The tender will cover the development of software for various departments, integration of existing software, assembling of hardware, supply of computers and printers and network training. The e-governance project is being launched by utilising the funds provided by the Centre under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme. The Corporation had earlier appointed software major Wipro as the consultant of the project at an estimated cost of Rs 8.70 crore.
