HYDERABAD: Wedding photojournalism is the artful capture of the story of any wedding. In this genre of modern photography, using an alternative approach where images are captured spontaneously to emphasise moments and emotion, seems to be the key principle of taking photographs that are a perfect balance of artistry and detail.Anbu and Cheryl fell in love in the exotic land of pearls and minarets while they were studying in the University of Hyderabad. Their journey with this genre of photography has been remarkable, which is quite evident from their work so far. “Wedding photojournalism has been in vogue for a decade. And, wedding photography is drama --- players, roles, costumes, sets, emotions and action. It is public yet absolutely private. If you have an intelligent and creative eye, you can gift the couple their very own telling of the tale through all the unexpected nuances that make their wedding unique,” say the cheery couple. On asking them how difficult is it to work with your loved one, they agreed upon the fact that it isn’t all that bad. “You know your individual style, strength and equipment.Always give and take advice. Communicating across the floor with a word or gesture can do wonders,” they added.Through contemporary wedding photography one can gain access to special and genuine moments that a traditional photographer could never capture, they point out. And with couple photographers, working together and creating patterns of lovely moments, coupled with their distinctive styles, make this nothing short of a cohesive bonding experience.“We both love to travel, meet people and explore new cultures. That’s how photography became a medium to capture all this,” say Vinayak and Snigdha who were struck by cupid’s arrow at a photo workshop.“Gradually it became a passion. And, Indian weddings are a celebration of life and love. It is a social event very high on emotion, rich in tradition and full of energy. That is what makes wedding photography very unique. As photographers it is a huge challenge to capture the true essence of a wedding in a frame,” they point out. The happy couple enjoy working together as their styles complement each other. “Sometimes one look from each other can communicate what we need to do or where we need to be to capture a specific photograph,” they said.
