Ganesh idols on sale from September 9

HYDERABAD: The eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols will be now available at special distribution centres set up by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) in 51 locations in the city.

Volunteers from various NGOs and students from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) and other colleges have come forward for volunteering to distribute the Ganesh idols.

The idols will be available at subsidised rates which are 50 percent less than market price. Small idols of 8 inches size will cost Rs 10 and big idols of 4.5 feet size will cost Rs 1000. The distribution centres will be open for the public from September 9 to 11. It is part of an HMDA initiative to protect water bodies from pollution and encroachments.

The names of the distribution centres to be set up by NGOs and other institutions are by Care at Langar Houz market, Uppal bus stand, Nacharam Chowrasta Road, Khairatabad market, Saraswathi Vidya Mandir, Mahabharath Nagar, by CEE at NTR Gardens, Sanjeevaiah Park, KBR Park,  Hi-tec City and by Sukuki Exnora at Saroornagar lake, Hasmatpet-Boincheruvu,  Peddacheruvu,  BS Maktha community hall, Kundanbagh entrance,  Chinmaya Vidyalaya School, St Francis Degree College, G Pulla Reddy, Begumpet, Pochamma Temple, Mathajinagar and Methodist Colony Dhanalaxmi Stores.

Other centres to be set up are by Chatri at NBT Nagar community hall,  Chadarghat Bridge, by APSA at Bhagat Singh Nagar, Venkateswara Colony, Ambedkarnagar, Bairamulagude, Karmanghat, Srinivasanagar, Anandabagh, Bharatnagar, Nehrunagar, Moulali, Sainikpuri, AS Rao Nagar, Ramakrishna Puram, Neredmet, ECIL, Ambedkarnagar, Vengalaraonagar, Nallagutta, Gachibowli, Sindhi Colony and Padmaraonagar.

Seva Bharath will set up centres at Yellammabanda, Sri Vidyanjali School, IDL Cheruvu, Nalla Cheruvu, Moosapet, Yellamma Cheruvu, Rangadhamani Cheruvu and by Deloitte at Tammidi Kunta.

The Department of Environment at JNTU, Kukatpally will set up a centre on the campus, Jayaho Barateeyam at the Exhibition grounds, Sri Sai Sarva Seva Charitable Trust at Sainikpuri and K Bhavani of Monarch Ergo, Secunderabad  at all schools in Sainikipuri.
