CHENNAI: Inaction of the State government against schools collecting high fees has emboldened others to violate norms, as students protest in vain.Three schools — CSI Jessie Moses School, Anna Nagar, CSI Bain School, Kilpauk (both managed by the CSI diocese) and Sethu Bhaskara Matriculation in Pudur — witnessed demonstrations on Tuesday but Director of Matriculation schools K Devarajan maintained it is for the Justice Govindarajan fee committee to recommend action against erring schools. Complaints against eight schools proved right, but their managements have not been pulled up. More than 200 parents congregated outside CSI Jessie Moses school, which hiked fees to `6,250 from `3,500 per term for Class II and charges nearly `10,000 (a year) for LKG. The school has also demanded a readmission fee of `17,000 from students promoted to Class I.Justice K Govindarajan was unavailable for comment.
