Of soul and brahman

CHENNAI: Adi Sankara roamed around propagating the philosophy of the unity of the soul and Brahman. Till date, his teachings find relevance in the day to day lives of many. Prasanna Venkatesan, an ardent admirer of Adi Sankara is one amongst many who follow his teachings. He recently released a book, which aims to explain the concepts of Adi Sankara like Advaitam and Sanatana Dharma. He has translated and explained Adi Sankara’s teachings in Tamil and English in his book Yoga Taravali. The launch of the book was presided by Mahomahopaadyaya Mulla Vaasal Krishnamurthy Sastriga. The event was a simple affair with a lecture by Mani Dravid Sastrigal.Krishnamurthy Sastrigal read few excerpts from the book and congratulated Prasanna for his eloquence in Tamil. He showered praises on Adi Sankara and reiterated the importance of his works and the greatness of Hinduism. He urged youngsters to put their mind and soul when they are offering prayers. The proceeds from the sale will go to towards the renovation of vedapatasala, which is coming up in Thirividaimarudur. Although the crowd assembled well-before the scheduled start of the event, it comprised mostly senior citizens and middle-aged men and women with the exception of few tiny tots. It was an evening that educated those present on the greatness of Adi Sankara and his teachings.
