LinguaNext’s Indify to make e-governance work

CHENNAI: The Government of India specifies the use of local language as one of the core principles of e-governance. Government agencies and public sector enterprises deploying e-governance applications, however, face a hard choice when implementing this core principle. They can either acquire a world class e-governance solution but which lacks local language support or they can acquire a locally developed solution that may not have all the required functionality.

Here comes the LinguaNext’s Indify 1.1 solution, an innovative product that enables the real-time translation of any software application such as one from SAP, Oracle, Microsoft or others into local languages, by automatically looking up a pre-built translation dictionary.

A global leader in language localisation solutions, LinguaNext has announced two solutions specific to the Indian market - Indify SAP and Indify Oracle, both to be used in 22 official Indian languages.

Speaking to this correspondent about its contribution to e-governance solutions, Atul Tulshibagwale, CEO, LinguaNext, said,  “The railways and banks and some of the state governments have become our customers and we will have tie-ups with vendors working with the government in areas of e-governance.’’

“The company is expecting a revenue of `300 crore in the next two to three years,’’ Atul said and added, “With an installed base of over one million desktops using LinguaNext solutions globally is the localisation vendor of choice from SMEs to large enterprises, which has been successful in India with over 16 public sector banks, including SBI, PNB and many others having successfully deployed this technology.’’

He also said, “E-governance projects are taking off well all over India at the Central, and State government levels. The combined expenditure on e-governance projects may exceed `22,500 crore over the next two years. This large investment is necessary to make the government more efficient and only world class products - SAP and Oracle - seem to have all the functionality required.’’

He further said, “Since e-governance products such as SAP and Oracle don’t support Indian languages, the investments on such an exercise could go waste if they are offered only in English, since a lot of users would not understand what is shown on the screen that are provided to them.’’

“LinguaNext fills this critical gap by offering the Indify products which will make IT a comfortable and natural experience for all government staff, vendors and citizens of India to understand any type of information, of course in the local language, and thereby speed up e-governance  process at all levels,’’ Atul remarked.
