KOCHI: Police on Thursday arrested T J Joseph, teacher of Newman College, Thodupuzha, who had been held responsible for incorporating a question that is said to have hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim communities.

T J Joseph was reported absconding from March 26, the day when Muslim organisations took to the streets of Thodupuzha town to protest against the contents of the question paper that is said to have defamed Prophet Mohammed.

The office of Commissioner of Kochi city police had issued a look-out notice on Joseph.

Police said that Joseph was arrested from Idukki while he was en route to the police headquarters to surrender.

“We have been quizzing him.

He told us that the question paper was prepared by adding certain lines from a book, which is a collection of screenplays,” the police officials said.

Joseph will be presented before the court on Friday.
