Just call for your doctor

KOCHI: An appointment with your doctor is just an SMS away. You no longer have to wait in long queues to meet your doctor. You can schedule an appointment and receive token numbers by just sending an SMS from your mobile phone. City-based Alignminds Technologies has developed a software - ‘EatherWay’ - which will enable doctors and patients to communicate with each other 24x7 and efficiently manage their resource-time.

“EatherWay is an integration of three communication media - mobile text messages (SMS), internet and normal telephony. It also acts as a website, a platform to receive and send text messages and an automated system to receive and respond to voice calls,” said Alignminds general manager (sales and marketing) T V Saseendranath.

“For doctors it acts as a customisable patient flow management system and for patients it serves as a multifaceted appointment scheduling system,” he added.

The software offers enormous flexibility for its users to choose the medium they are comfortable with like mobile phone, internet or voice telephony.

In order to avail these services doctors need to subscribe to EatherWay either by registering online or with the help of the solution consultants. Doctors who register will be provided with an ID code.

Patients can register with Eather- Way either online or by sending a mobile text message. This will enable them to book their appointments online and search for doctors. Registration is not mandatory to fix appointments through SMS or automated telephone appointment system.

Patients can book appointments online or by sending a text message to the number 56006070. The format for sending SMS is (dr,<space>doctor id <space>date).

He/she will soon receive the date, time and a token number by SMS. If the doctor is not available, the next available dates will be sent through SMS.

“Already 150 doctors have registered with EatherWay,” said CEO of the company Dev Narayan.

Patients can use the automated telephony booking system by dialing the number 0484-4116070. They can also opt for the online system to fix an appointment with the doctor by logging onto the website www.eatherway.

com.

Patients will get the necessary assistance and information like the ID of the doctor and SMS formats for seeking or cancelling appointments from the call centre. An EatherWay doctors directory will soon be available at medical shops and some of the leading book stalls in the city.
